Welcome to the Seeley Foundation

The Seeley Foundation was created by Halsted and Laurel Seeley in 1945, in memory of their only child, an adopted son, John Harper Seeley. John was killed in a Kamikaze attack while serving as a deck officer on a destroyer in the Pacific a few days before the Japanese surrendered in World War II.

The Seeley Foundation and its trustees have made many meaningful contributions to the world we live in since Laurel and Halsted’s passing. The Seeley Foundation benefits the arts, environment, health, human services and more. Giving is conducted primarily within the communities where the trustees live and visit.
